The cottage is approximately 3 miles from Stranraer (http://www.stranraer.org) where visitors can enjoy a variety of shops, bars, restaurants, parks and leisure facilities (including swimming pool, fitness suite etc). Stranraer is also one of Scotland's busiest Ferry Ports and you can easily travel by Ferry to Belfast for an enjoyable shopping or day trip. The local village is situated 1/4 mile away and offers a shop which doubles as a Post Office each morning and an Inn which serves food daily. The cottage is on a bus route with buses running to Stranraer several times a day and a standard taxi fare is £3.50 per trip. The picturesque village of Portpatrick is approximately 6 miles away and is very popular with locals and visitors alike. It is also the start of the Southern Upland Way for those keen walkers among you. Four local golf courses are available for golf enthusiasts, these include 3 links courses at Stranraer (Creighmore - http://www.stranraergolfclub.net), Portpatrick (Dunskey - http://www.portpatrickgolfclub.com), and Glenluce (The County - http://www.wigtownshirecountygolfclub.com). There is also a course and driving range at Lagganmore Golf Club near Portpatrick (http://www.lagganmoregolf.co.uk).
